Houston, Texas
Listen
Houston’s football, etc. is an emo band featuring Lindsay Minton (guitar, vox) Mercy Harper (bass vi), and Daniel Hawkins (drums). The band’s early years featured the late James Vehslage on drums. The band has released three LPs along with several EPs and splits. Across their catalog, the band has built a sound rooted in melodic, angular guitar interplay, drawing comparisons to Rainer Maria, Mineral, and The Appleseed Cast. Their work has drawn praise from outlets such as Noisey, Stereogum, and Brooklyn Vegan. NPR called the band “particularly thoughtful about its backwards glance, balancing twinkly guitar ballads and moody pop songs, staking its own identity in a genre that’s still discovering newness.”
