Football, etc. is a Houston emo band formed in 2009. Its core members are Lindsay Minton (guitar/vocals) and Mercy Harper (bass/vocals), with the late James Vehslage on drums in the band’s early years. After several self-releases, they issued the acclaimed albums The Draft (2011) and Audible (2013) on Count Your Lucky Stars, and Corner (2017) on Community/Hardline. In 2022 they returned with the Vision EP, and in 2026 Rite Field reissued The Draft (15th anniversary edition). Football, etc. is known for interlaced, chiming guitar lines and Lindsay’s earnest vocals. Critics compare their concise, melodic sound to 90s emo/post-rock bands (Mineral, The Appleseed Cast, Rainer Maria). The music alternates between gently driving rhythms and intimate bridges, giving it a bittersweet, nostalgic quality.
