Pope is a Houston-founded alternative rock band made up of Matt Seferian (vocals/guitar/bass), Alex Skalany (vocals/guitar/bass), and Atticus Lopez (drums). The band signed to Rite Field in 2025 and returned in 2026 with BFM, their first new album in over eight years and the follow-up to True Talent Champion (2017). In press materials, BFM is framed as a homecoming record, “built on years of trust,” tracing what started in Houston and later deepened in New Orleans. Pope’s music leans on patient, emotionally grounded songwriting, with guitars carrying the weight of the songs while Seferian and Skalany share the writing and Lopez keeps the pulse steady. Their sound draws from 90s and early-2000s alternative rock and emo, balancing clarity, distortion, and dynamic tension without overplaying any one element.
