some fear began in Oklahoma City in 2021 as a solo project by songwriter Branden “Bran” Palesano, who has also plays in cursetheknife. The band took shape when drummer Ray Morgan joined for what Palesano thought would be the project’s final show and encouraged him to keep it going. Following several early recordings and the Picture EP, some fear released their self-titled debut album through Rite Field Records in January 2025. For Word Eater, released in April 2026, Palesano and Morgan moved beyond the lo-fi recording of the band’s earlier work while keeping the minimal songwriting that first defined the project. Recorded and produced by Michael Briggs at Civil Recording Studio, the album was influenced by Bedhead’s WhatFunLifeWas and Should’s Feed Like Fishes. Its eight songs move through financial pressure, resentment, anxiety, and things left unsaid before returning to the friendships and relationships that make those pressures easier to carry.
